The masses of tunnel vision afflicted mouth breathers will converge on Los Angeles today to remember Micheal (king bad touch) Jackson, while ignoring the countless reasons he should be forgotten forever. I firmly believe this would be the perfect time for God to prove his existence to me once and for all, open the ground below the Staples Center and swallow them all whole. I'm not hardly bull shittin here. I fully expect the memorial to turn into a scene not unlike worshippers being trampled at Mecca. Hopefully Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas, will be in attendance and will be trampled in the melee. Who the hell is Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee ? Glad you asked. She is the democratic Representative who is calling on Congress to recognize Jackson as a "global humanitarian and a noted leader in the fight against worldwide hunger and medical crises" and celebrate the King of Pop as "an accomplished contributor to the worlds of arts and entertainment, scientific advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, and global food security." If this twit has her way, if elected democratic reps pass this idiotic resolution, I swear to God and Tito, I will turn in my moderate liberal card, and join the ranks of Neo Conservative Republicans.
Not to get all philosophical and shit, but is this what our country has become, a bunch of blind eye turning, freak show worshipping morons? It would seem so. When our congress turns their attention to debating whether a pedophile,( hey you don't pay 15 to 25 million to silence a kid if it ain't true), when congress wastes time and money debating some bullshit resolution honoring this creepy fucker, it speaks volumes as to the direction we are heading, which is Hell in a hand basket. I would think that with this country in the shape it is in at the moment, there are more pressing matters to attend to.
If I've learned anything from the death of the One Gloved Skeletor, it's this. Liberals, and I count myself as one, albeit in dissent over the adoration of Jackson, Liberals are so busy with the business of being politically correct and sensitive, they lack the backbone to speak up when it might offend someone, unless that someone is a conservative. And conservatives stop fuckin gloating, you are just as bad. Seriously, Mike Jackson, global humanitarian? Why not open up a string of battered women's shelters and name them after Ike Turner. How about the NAACP honoring the late Governor George Wallace for his advances in race relations? Not any more ridiculous than calling MJ a humanitarian. This world is full of people who actually commit heroic, honorable acts on a daily basis. There really are people who care about right and wrong, who wont ignore their conscience or compromise their principals to appease one group or another. Unfortunately they aren't in Washington. And you won't find them attending the memorial.
What kills me is that "Michael Jackson's body to be at memorial" has been the HEADLINE on cnn.com all day. CN-fucking-N. Is there really no more pressing matter in the world to discuss than whether or not his body is going to be at the Staples Center today?! I mentioned on my blog the other day about a woman I work with who actually made the comment that MJ's death was what finally taught her to appreciate life because if he can die, then "like, anyone can die."
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I was okay with it. Call me a Constitutionalist, but innocent until proven guilty is my motto, and I never saw any proof, and neither did a jury. I had doubts about MJ's innocence until they put up a hotline and advertised hour after hour every day, "If you were molested by Michael Jackson, call 1-800-EAT-SHIT" or whatever, and nobody called. And none of the porn they confiscated was pedophilic or even gay. And I watched the whole trial and agreed with the jury.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks I've always got to be the one to defend unpopular people, but so it goes. I'm pro-humanitarian and I agreed with everyone up there who labled Michael Jackson as such.
Come on MM, what's all this talk about conscience and principles, right and wrong, that's how conservatives talk.
ReplyDeleteIsn't all this great? It's exactly what we've always wanted! No longer do we have to listen to church hierarchs or or have some high falutin' ideals based on Truth or "judgmental" conversations about right and wrong - no this is freedom! Freedom to be who we want to be, and just as long as you're an artist and not overly religious, better yet you're a minority, but you're nice and give money to starving people well, pedophilia is something we can definitely over look. Populism is so like totally cool. Power to the people! Come on, don't be so mean and judgemental. Besides what's true for you isn't necessarily true for me...or anyone really. In absence of religion what's wrong with a little cult of personality? The more freakish and void of substance the better.

ReplyDeleteIm not talking about the criminal trial, different kid entirely. Im talking about the 15 to 25 million he settled out of court to the first kid. Thesmokinggun.com has the deposition from the boy. He even identified MJs penis, which is apparently spotted or some such. Im all for innocent until proven guilty, the problem is, when you settle for that kind of money, it aint because you are innocent. And when you get accused once, and continue having slumber parties with kids, well nuff said.
OJ was proven innocent, robert Blake too.

ReplyDeleteThis is all about selling records. The more press he receives; the more records they will sell.
ReplyDeleteI firmly believe that any individual, group or industry can get away with almost any atrocity if they're valuable (marketable) enough.
I gave up some time ago. We're hosed. I'm sorry for my grandchildren, but I'm glad to be old enough that I won't be around (hopefully) to see the worst.
ReplyDeleteRight, MM, but there were never any criminal charges filed in that case. A lot of people settle things out of court that they're not guilty of just to dummy people up and avoid the scandal of the trial. How come they didn't file criminal charges against him, if the evidence was so conclusive? People settle lawsuits like that all the time. When I worked for the government of one of our local counties, we settled every lawsuit out of court, 100% of the time. It mattered not whether the county was to blame, all lawsuits were settled and never went to trial, no matter what the circumstances were, whether it was a roadway accident or sexual harrassment. "Pay them off and shut them up," was the M.O. there.
ReplyDeleteLeigh Ann, I think they settle when the cost of litigation and time is comparable to damages, you can get a lot of legislation done for 20 mil. I don't doubt that the people he settled with were scammers and if it was me I'd pay 40 mil if I was innocent just to see them dragged through the mud/countercharged.
ReplyDeleteAs far as congress goes, if MJ was such a humanitarian why didn't the introduce the legislation when he was alive, like on his 50th birthday. As a matter of fact the same memorial would look just as good on his 50th birthday, but then he was just a accused molester and a freak, so no one cared.
During his day I loved me some Michael Jackson. He was extremely talented. I loved to watch him dance. Then he just turned creepy and yes, I'm almost certain, a pedophile.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the people at work that cried watching the memorial. They were the same ones not too long ago just referred to him as a freak and rolled their lips in disgust and never liked his music.
50 years ago we had folks in Washington, DC who considered a first strike nuclear attack against Russia to be a reasonable option. So I'm not so sure I'd consider the unwarranted adulation of a freak pop star to be a step in the direction of the world going to hell.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like it's a new thing for the media and politicians to obsess on stupid shit.
dave-o,
ReplyDeleteI'm no hawk but how is it unreasonable in a destroy or be destroyed world to consider a preemptive strike? A preemptive strike is justified in just war theory if an attack is imminent (this isn't justifying for our preemptive strike on Iraq where the intelligence didn't justify our preemption).
Note Israel and the Six Day War in 1967. If they hadn't attacked first their fate would have surely been annhilation.
It's easy to sit, 50 years removed, and talk about how paranoid a crazy those Eisenhower and Cold War years were but, well, that's because we're alive to talk about it. When you've got warheads aimed at you a little paranoia goes a long way.
