Walking on eggshells........................

Don Imus is back in the news for a comment some are claiming was racist. The topic was Pacman Jones and the number of times he has been arrested. Imus asked what color the guy was, when told that Jones was African American, Imus responded, "Well there you go". And now, there THEY go. By they I am not referring to African Americans. I am referring to people, who will go out of their way to turn every single comment possible, in to a racial issue. I suspect by the end of this post there will be someone, somewhere who will call me a racist. To those folks, who are the same types crying foul over Imus statement, I say to you, Blow Me.

Imus issued a statement saying that he was implying that Jones was being harassed because he is black. that should be the end of it, but it isn't. Pacman Jones had this to say "I'm truly upset about the comments," Jones said. "Obviously Mr. Imus has problems with African-Americans. I'm upset, and I hope the station he works for handles it accordingly. I will pray for him." See where this is heading? Pacman Jones is a knucklehead of epic proportions. He has been arrested at least 5 times for crimes ranging from assault to disorderly conduct. An Escalade owned by Jones was confiscated over a drug case. He has spit in a woman's face, beat people up. Pacman ain't exactly a fucking choir boy. He is a talented football player and a piss poor excuse for a human being. Packman wasn't harassed by the MAN for being black, he was arrested and convicted for being an idiot. When a guy like Pacman Jones takes the high moral ground, ignores a completely plausible explanation, like the one Imus gave, who in their right mind would lend that statement one iota of credence? Answer, the media and race baiters, that's who.

I am not a Don Imus fan. I think he is about as funny as Howard Stern, who isn't funny, and makes statements that put Imus nappy headed ho remark to shame. That said, I feel compelled to defend Imus remarks. Ever heard a Chris Rock routine? Richard Pryor, Carlos Mencia, Margret Cho, Kat Williams, Eddie Griffin, the list goes on. All of these people are funny, and everyone of them makes remarks that would be construed as racist if you reverse the ethnic vs. white comments. Ever watch a show on the WB? Every white person on the WB is portrayed is a stereotypical parody of white people. Should we be offended? No we shouldn't. Why shouldn't we? Because it's fucking comedy, it's meant to be funny.

The problem in America today, is that no matter what you say, or who you say it about, someone is going to be offended. We have become so afraid of offending some group or another, that we have lost our ability to laugh at ourselves. Imus is not Tom Brokaw, he is a radio jock, with an unexplainable following of people who think he is funny. I'm not one of those people. My problem is with people who pounce on every single statement made by Imus, and hold said statement up as an indictment upon race relations in America. Turning non issues like statements from a radio jock, in to some overblown racial issue , does a huge disservice to people who are targeted because of race. Make no mistake, there are still a shitload of racist white people. Blacks are still targeted and discriminated against based solely upon race. It is wrong, period, and I am ashamed of every racist backwoods or corporate cracker who still thinks in that manner.

I am equally ashamed of people on the other side of the racial divide, who make false claims of racism in order to further their own agenda. I have no use for guys like Al Sharpton who pounce on every issue under the sun , putting a racist spin where there is none. Stereotypes exist, because, sometimes they are true. Sometimes that's funny. People need to lighten up and stop going out of their way dissecting innocent comments, searching for some vague and ambiguous racial overtone where none exists. Trust me there is enough real and genuine racism left in America, on both sides of the fence, we don't need to grasp at straws. And Pacman Jones, shut the fuck up, mmmmmkay. The comment you made, after Imus remark and subsequent explanation, has got to be the single most moronic tripe to come out of your overpaid pie hole. You expect people to give you the benefit of the doubt, ignoring your track record, yet you refuse to do the same for Imus. Not to worry, you'll be back in the news for one fuck up or another, and you can blame it on The Man. Sadly most people will be afraid to disagree with your claims for fear of offending, but I won't be one of them.

  1. I'm sorry...I don't believe for a second that Imus didn't mean that statement exactly as it sounded. I think he isn't exactly alone on his perception that crime in the US is largely perpetrated by African Americans. I'll openly admit it's my own perception. I haven't looked up stats to see if I'm wrong, though. And I don't think that makes me racist...but I could be wrong about that, too. If it isn't fact that more crimes are commited by black people vs. white or hispanic or what have you, then I definitely would consider my opinion to be a racist one, and I'd expect someone to correct me and tell me what they think of me.

I think his backpeddling makes sense, but I don't believe it at all.

  2. I heard his statement (on Howard Stern) and it was racist, he's a doddering old fool and the most remarkable thing is that anyone listens to him.

I hate PR people and fake apologies. I say, give the man a hood and let him stay on the radio. It's good to know what those folks think.

  3. I guess the point I was trying to make, (poorly), is that Imus doesnt make comments anymore racist than say , chris rock for example. The media doesnt jump on every racist statement chris rock makes, but let the middle aged, douchey , white guy say something questionable, and it's on like a pot of neckbones. In my opinion that reaction and the ensuing hype, detracts from the real and pertinant racial problems. Im sure Imus is racist to some degree. Mainly I just wanted to take a few jabs at Pacman Jones for his righteous indignation.

  4. The meat of your argument is true. I believe the people who scream racism the loudest and in my book perpetuate it the most are the pc correct crowd. They try to intimidate while anointing themselves. Most black people and most white people know better.

  5. I hear ya, MM. I just wanted to say that I think his claims that it was just sarcasm or that he meant that he thinks Pacman was pidgeon holed because he's black were bullshit.

I think your commentary on the entire situation rocks. As usual. :)

  6. Fewer people that day caught Shaq O'Neals equally racist remarks about white people. No one cares about Black America's open hatred of the white man. Ride a bus in Atlanta for an hour, and you would not believe the random racist anti-white remarks spoken by black folks on the bus.

The mainstream media and random fucktards like Sue Donim like to latch onto old geezer Imus' dumbass commentary.

I've been a victim of crime 3 times in my life. All three times, it was a black man that oppressed me. Anyone that decries Don Imus obviously hasn't had a stupid ass ni99a hold a silver pistol against their head. Trust me it aint no fun, and I'm lucky I'm still typing on blogger today.
