Dropping the H bomb

So, a woman, her sister and 4 children board a flight to Seattle. During the flight the kids, two of who appear to be teen or close, are running up and down the isles of the plane. The mother later says that she was asked twice by the stewardess to control her kids. This modern day June Cleaver goes on to say that the kids were just excited, beings this was their first ever flight and all. Mom even says they were out of control. When the plane makes it's next stop in Phoenix the cops meet the family at the gate and tell them they cant continue on.

Let's set the scene. There is the Grandmother who met her spawn and brood at the airport, I'm guessing she is the tipster that brought the news people in to the mix. There is a man, with granny, probably an Uncle. Grand ma ma, is a large, and manly woman, her hair reminds me of my own hair, circa 1985, combed back and off the collar. Not that there is anything wrong with that, Im just painting the picture. The daughter and mother of the children clearly got her looks from Ma. As the camera pans down the row of kids, you can tell they are only seconds away from running amok on tape. The sister, ah the sister. Reed thin, haggard looking with one tooth in the top front center of her mouth, like a reverse Sweet Pea, you know, Olive Oil's kid.

I can hear you out there. You are thinking, "Gee MM, you're kind of being a dick. Don't pick on the kids and Mother". That would be my cue to say "Fuck that, and keep reading". But be warned, it's long, ugly, and not for the faint of heart.

KCTV 5 had a clip. The mother is just beside herself, the sister is livid. They both show their ass on the nightly news. Mom says she just cant believe they left her and her children stranded, with out a penny. The cops fed them, which probably set them back a pretty penny, and motel 6 left the light on and gave them a free room. Sis is wagging her head back and forth and saying the airline " ain't got no heart". Then it happens, the one two punch. They drop the H word, that's right, you heard me, they said Handicapped. They claim one of the kids is autistic, and the smallest girl has Cerebral Palsy. Granny lets the second punch go," we should be compensated".

And there it is, the crux of the matter, the Money Shot.

I have so many problems with this story on so many levels, but Ill narrow it to 2 or 3, 4 tops.

These adults , the mom, granny, auntie, these people are first rate examples of what is wrong with society today. They have complete and utter disregard for the world around them. They stomp and waddle, push and shove their way through life. The hundred or more people who shared the plane ride with them, were subjected to their self admittedly out of control children. Yeah, I know 2 of them were handicap, so what was the other two's excuse? Besides I doubt the the little girl with CP was raising too much hell. Let's say I have Tourettes, lets say Im sitting next to this family. My symptom is a constant uncontrollable barrage of shouting Mother Fucker at the top of my lungs. I promise you they wouldn't be bothered non too much if I got booted off the flight. Contrary to what some people think, being handicapped does not give you free reign to do whatever you want to do. If Stephen Hawking went around kick slapping people, he would get rolled in to a jail cell.

Look, I get it , children have some really sad and horrible conditions. People who are handicapped have as much right as anyone to do as they please.... Unless.... Unless it seriously infringes on the rights and lives of everyone around them. More and more often we hear of some indignant parent who claims they were discriminated against or singled out because their child is "Handicapped". I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just saying it didn't happen in this case, and Im sure this isn't an isolated incident. We have these words nowadays that set off alarms, HOT words, I call them. Handicapped is one of them. Discrimination is another one. Bad words, wrong headed thinking and unacceptable, when they ring true. If you put those two Hot words together, well you better look out. The media will rain a shit storm down upon the offending party.

But these people weren't discriminated against. They failed to follow the rules. The adults failed to do their job. I spent half my life as a criminal, I broke the rules, I got caught, I went to prison. It was a good call, well played, and fair enough. So what does it say about the character of these people who have less personal accountability for their actions than a convicted felon? They want compensation and an apology. I say they should be glad they didn't all get cavity searches with an oven mitt. I say they are lucky they didn't get fined, or tossed in the pokey. I say as tragic as you may think your story is, there are millions more fucking tragic, and they aren't all running around with no regard for the people around them. When you don't control your children, and get called on it, you cant pull the Handicapped word like a pistol. That shit wont fly, and neither will you.

Correction*** I mistakenly identified the large woman as the mother of the kids. Wendy Slaughter was the thin mono toothed woman and mother of the 4 kids. My apologies for the mix up. Not sure who I insulted the most.***
