I know what you did this summer. You played where is MM?

This one may be a little tougher. In my opinion this is one of the creepiest buildings in Kansas City. It even enjoyed a brief stint as a Halloween Haunted house. Unfortunately, you didn't know if you would be accosted by a college kid dressed as a vampire, or a crack head wielding a knife and pissed that you invaded his lair. I've even thrown myself under the bus for your amusement and edification. Yes those are tiny devil horns on my smooth and orb like dome. Enjoy. Its the last picture of me you will see on here until I figure out why the camera added 20 pounds to my sleek visage. Have a good weekend.

  3. that's 'round 18th and vine, you can actually see it running nort on Paseo on the way to I-70. it used to be -so I was informed by my great-granparents-a training hospital for black nurses, waaaaaaay back in the day.

and, d00d: i'm a 100% with you and the bad camera. tho, instead of taking it back, get photoshop and lose the 20 pounds forever...

  5. Hm...we need a matress for the new bedroom, when the construction is all said and done. Wonder if that one is still available...

  7. Interesting find! I looked up and found out that it is one of the most endangered historic places in Missouri.

Wheatley-Provident Hospital is the sole surviving hospital building in Kansas City that was established for and run by the African-American community during the period of 1902 to 1972. Dr. J. Edward Perry founded the facility as a hospital and training school for nurses in 1902 . . .

  9. I'm not trying to be funny when I say my wife and I went to this place on one of our first dates. I love exploring the "once was" places in cities, and I love this place. A runner-up is a similar building in Beacon Hill.
    Nice post and good blog.
