Somebody help me out here. I'm clearly a little dull witted when it comes to high finance and the ins and outs of the economy. It seems like only yesterday our president assured us that the economy was strong, resilient, all was well. Presidential wanna be, and war hero, human action figure John (I was captured by Asian Flintstones in funny hats) McCain, also assured us that the economy was strong. So I'm a little confused now over this whole "we are teetering on the brink of financial ruin". The republicans are fighting among themselves, and nobody knows if the bailout to save these financial institutions is going to happen after all. Everyone on capitol hill agrees that the situation is dire, that something bad will happen if the big banks go under, they just cant agree on how to fix it.
So how did we go from solid, sound and resilient, to Holy shit we are gonna crash! And why is it that the majority of Republicans and Democrats had no problem agreeing on minor issues like invading foreign soil and spending trillions of dollars we didn't have, yet they cant get their poop in a group and agree on how to fix the current economic crisis. The bright side to all of this, and there is a bright side, the bright side is, I stand to lose nothing. I dont have over a hundred grand in the bank, I dont have a mutual fund, or any stocks, I dont have a bunch of money tied up for retirement, so if everything goes up in flames I'm no worse off than I already was. And for those of you who are worried, who stand to lose your ass and life savings, there is a bright side as well. I will be back Monday with my latest installment about criminal characters Ive known!
