I just wanted to take a minute to say something about the passing of Paul Newman. When I was a kid all of my buddies wanted to be Dirty Harry or Steve McQueen. Me, I wanted to be Cool Hand Luke. Newman played characters that had fallen on hard times, usually through their own doing. We aren't supposed to side with the bad guys, the convicts, or drunks, the hustlers and seedy characters. Newman gave those characters a human side that made people root for them. There's a little Fast Eddie or Luke in all of us, and it took a guy like Paul Newman to make us see it.
