I was talking about you, not to you.

People are odd creatures. It never fails to amaze me what will get a rise out of people who read this blog. I'm not talking about regular readers, but the anonymous random doofus who happens to stumble in here because of a search word, or a link from another blog. Sensibilities get offended over the most trivial things, while remaining mute on issues of substance.

So hopefully this post will clear the air on a few topics that seem to have folks panties in a wad.
Threats to stop reading me, and to remove me from your blog roll have no effect on me or what I write. I get paid the same whether I sugar coat shit, or tell it like I see it. Zero, nada, zip and zilch, I get paid nothin. I blog because I enjoy writing, and an average of 150 to 200 people a day seem to enjoy reading it. That isn't very many readers in the grand scheme of things, but it's enough to compel me to keep doing it.

I don't write anything with the express intent to offend or piss people off, if I do piss someone off or offend someone, bonus for me , you are probably the type of person I would offend in the real world anyway. I tend to focus on crime , perhaps more than I should. Maybe I am drawn to this subject because of my past, or maybe I just think it is a topic that doesn't get the attention it merits. Either way, it is a topic often addressed on this blog and my opinions are based on experience and a genuine concern for the people who have to live in the more crime ridden areas of this city. That doesn't make me gallant, noble or a humanitarian, but it hopefully offers an opinion that will give someone pause to consider something other than Leawood coyotes or Blue Springs bartenders turned singer.

People blog for a variety of reasons, one of which is an unrealistic dream of becoming a paid writer. Sadly, that is why I do it, and I know as sure as I am sitting here that nobody in their right mind is going to pay a middle aged ex convict to write for them. So I do it for the pleasure of it. How well or how poorly I do it, is open to debate. All I can say with absolute certainty is that I believe everything I write, I don't hedge and I don't hold back. It appears on this screen unedited and unaltered just as it comes out of my mouth in the real world. Love me , hate me, or ignore me, but you cant accuse me of being anything less than direct and honest. So in closing, if I have offended anyone, it wasn't my intention to, and I could really not care less. There are millions of hacks writing blogs at any given moment, I am just one of them, if this one doesn't suit you, or the content offends you, then as the saying goes, "Get on , like you were shit on" And to those of you who do read and seem to find some substance or amusement from my ramblings, thanks and keep coming back.
