Sofia Salva gets paid

Sofia Salva got 750 grand yesterday, she got paid, a 6 digit slice of the American dream, one can only hope that she will spend a portion of it on an irreversible hysterectomy. Yeah, you heard me right, they should tie her tubes with every knot in the Boy Scout Handbook. The two former police officers who were the catalyst of this case, should feel proud. If it was the intention of these two Wobble Heads to further damage race relations, to fan the flames of mistrust of the Police dept., rightfully felt by the African American community, then mission accomplished. If these two mouth breathers intended to damage the reputation of the KCPD, then job well done.


This is my fourth post regarding this case, so I won't regurgitate everything all over again. You can read it here, 3 or 4 posts I think. In a nutshell, the two cops stopped Salva, she complained that she was pregnant and bleeding, they ignored policy and procedure and failed to call an ambulance. The jail staff also ignored her complaints, she eventually miscarried. Of course, Salva had just left a liquor store, she had counterfeit Temp Tags, she had warrants, she lied to the police, gave a false name. Her other children had been removed from her custody by the state. Three sons adopted by a family in Belton, a daughter in foster care, she was a horrible mother, and a shitty person. The cops lost their jobs, as they should, Salva filed a Lawsuit, we knew she would.


I wonder if the state will go after her for the bill of caring for her other neglected children? Her husband is demanding some of the money, Sofia, having learned the American art of greed, doesn't want to part with 25 grand, says Daddy wasn't around, so he shouldn't get a slice of the pie. Sofia came to this country from Sudan, she learned quickly how to avoid shit like , legal tags, insurance, caring for her children rather than just spitting them out to reap more state benefits. I've never met this woman, don't need to, her character is all to apparent, and it is lacking sorely.
Salva has played up the whole martyred victim through this whole incident, and that is where I take issue. I believe in keeping shit in perspective, and neglecting 4 children to the point of the state taking them from you, does not a martyr make. It makes you a bad mother, period.


The Kansas City Police Department issued a statement: "We are pleased to have this matter resolved. We are continuing to work on healing the relationship between the department and the community that was harmed because of this incident." While the right thing to do was settle the case, it won't do anything to heal the relationship between the KCPD and the African American community, in fact it will do the opposite. The payoff confirms that the police officers were guilty of doing the very thing that has caused the rift in the first place. The only winner in all of this mess, is Sofia Salva and her lawyer. I can only guess at what Salva must be thinking. She comes to this city, from Sudan. She gets caught dirty, and gets paid due to the two buffoons who felt they didn't have to follow police department policy and procedure. Now Salva says she wants to get her 4 kids back, as if her fattened bank account will somehow make her a competant mother. Only in America.

The Sofia Salva case is Black and White. There is no Gray area.

The Sofia Salva incident has garnered a great deal of attention. The two KCMO Police officers Spencer and Schnell, are trying to get reinstated after being suspended by the Chief of Police for not following procedure during the now infamous traffic stop. Salva asked the police officers 9 times for medical help. When she told them she was pregnant and bleeding , the female officer said" How is that my problem" Salva would go on to miscarry a 5 month old fetus.


Salva filed suit, the two cops filed suits, and once again this city is embroiled in controversy, with race at the center. So should these two cops be fired for being racist as many in the black community have called for? The short answer is no. Were the cops just doing their job and should they be reinstated as many in the white community have called for ? Again the short answer is no.


The argument for firing the cops, at least in the eyes of some in the black community, is that the cops treated her inhumanely because of her skin color. The argument for reinstatement contends that Salva was violating the law, had warrants and had lied to the cops about her name, so they couldn't believe her when she said she was pregnant and bleeding. The two moronic cops also contend that they didn't have proper training on policy and procedure.


Officers Spencer and Schnell should not be fired because they reacted with racial bias. There is no evidence that race played a factor. That's not to say it didn't, there just isn't proof. They should be fired for failing to do their jobs. Being a cop and failing to do your job properly is not the same as screwing up an order at some fast food drive through. When cops fail to do their job, when they take an inhumane approach to a human dilemma, lives are at stake. In this case the 2 cops may well have contributed to Salva's miscarriage, we will never know for sure, but its a definite possibility, and in the end that's what really matters.


What about Sofia Salva, does she deserve part of the blame in all of this? You bet she does. She should have gone straight to the hospital, she should have called an ambulance from her home or from the liquor store she stopped at. Sophia Salva is not an innocent victim in all of this. In my opinion she is as culpable in the death of her unborn child as the 2 cops and the jail staff. Salva is not without blame.


So who is really the loser in all of this? Well the cops may lose their jobs, Salva lost a child. The cops deserve to lose their jobs, and judging from what I have read about Salva and some allegations of past child neglect, she had no business having another kid. The unborn child clearly lost. And we all lose. The KCPD loses and the people of Kansas City lose. The racial line is drawn in the sand. From the African American point of view its another case of white cops doing dirt against a person of color. Whites will again feel like the race card is being played.


Nobody can say how all of this would have played out if Salva had been white. The popular argument being tossed around by some is that this wouldn't have happened if Salva was white. That may be a half truth. Had Salva been a suburban Soccer mom it wouldn't have happened. But not because of skin color. It wouldn't have happened because a white or black soccer mom type wouldn't have been in that position. She wouldn't have been putting fake temp tags on her car. So the comparison is flawed, that's an economic disparity, not a racial one. Lets say Salva was a white woman, from the same socioeconomic background, caught under the same circumstances. In that case I believe the outcome would have been the same.



In a perfect world, race would not be an issue. If a white cop was involved in an incident with a person of color, whatever that color might be, the facts of the matter would be based on details, color not being one of the factors. But this isn't a perfect world. We all hold some prejudicial elements in our thought process, when skin tone is a factor. I don't care who you are, or how open minded you claim to be. I don't care if you are black, white, brown or mauve, somewhere in your psyche, perhaps right at the surface or buried deep, we all make judgements at times that are racially biased. The person of color who automatically feels they are being targeted based on race has a long historical reference to bolster their feeling. Likewise the average suburban white person who has been inundated with news of black on white crime, or reports of gang violence , will invariably recoil if approached by anyone remotely fitting that description.


So here we are, back to square one. The Sofia Salva case is about race after all. Not necessarily the incident itself, but the outcome, the aftershock reverberates and race is at the core. At the end of the day the decision of whether or not to reinstate these two cops, comes down to this. If the officers are reinstated that will be a green light for cops to ignore procedure. And it will be a slap in the face of a large portion of citizens who already feel maligned and disenfranchised, a feeling that is not without merit, I might add.


The officers should be fired. There will be two less incompetent cops on the streets. Firing them will be a positive step toward instilling at least a modicum of trust between the black community and the KCPD. Of course firing these two dolts will piss off a section of white society as well. That group of kick ass now, take names later folks, who are so out of touch with the reality of life in the inner city. These are the same people who think that it is okay to disregard the health and safety of an individual because that person violated a traffic law. Frankly those people don't matter, most of them don't even live in the city, hell , many of them don't even live in the state.

Sofia Salva, Joan of Arc she ain't.......

Mother of the year Sofia Salva is back in the news, and she is priming the pump for the big pay off to come in her lawsuit against the Kansas City police dept. Im not going to rehash the entire case, you can read my first post here. Suffice to say I didn't cut the cops or Salva any slack, and my opinion hasn't changed one iota. Salva plays it up like the long suffering mother who was desperately trying to make it to the hospital, via the liquor store. Lest we forget this woman already has 4 children who were permanently removed from her care in 2002. So when Salvo takes on the role of anguished mother, that dog just wont hunt. Yes she was treated wrong, yes the cops should be held accountable, but Im not buying her new role as defender of the down trodden .

If Salva was really trying to get to the hospital, if she was desperately seeking medical attention, then she would have gone straight there, expired tags or not. Instead she was dicking around at a liquor store , forging fake tags and doing none of the things that would reasonably lead a person to believe she was trying to seek medical care. She could have called 911, she could have , but she didn't. The truth is Salva didn't start showing concern for the welfare of her unborn child until she got stopped by the cops. None of that excuses the police for not following procedure and their refusal of medical treatment. But lets not paint Salva as some kind of martyr, she isn't.

Salva was quoted in the article , "I have a right to fight for my baby and for other people, so that we can be treated right in the streets," said Salva, a Sudan native, in her strong accent.

Nice try but it wont fly, at least not here. Im not saying she doesnt have grounds to sue, she does. But to paint herself as the Joan of Arc of Independence Avenue is so fucking thin it's transparent. So Sofia, do everyone a favor, shut your pie hole , collect your money, and invest in getting your tubes tied. You neglected four children which is why they were taken away, and you are at least as culpable in the miscarriage of your unborn child as the two morons who ignored policy and failed to call an ambulance while you were in their custody.

I am still getting comments on my previous posts about Sophia Salva and the two storm troopers who failed to follow procedure, and ultimately contributed to the miscarriage of the only innocent party in the fucked up mess . To be honest I was prepared to let the recent news of the final decision to fire these two retards go. I didn't post when the news hit, I thought I had covered my thoughts on the issue pretty well. I clicked on Terry's name and found this website , and by god it's a dandy. She is a real radical (heh). Inspired by the Black Panthers, and a self proclaimed lesbian, yet contemptuous of her non black sisters, and white males in general. You can read and enjoy some of the most sanctimonious, contrived , bullshit to come down the pike in a long , long , time. I just wanted to clarify a couple of wrong points in your comment regarding my Sofia Salva post. I never stated that Salva didn't have a case, in fact in the 3 previous posts I have made about this case , I was pretty clear and succinct in this area. But you missed that part, no doubt too preoccupied with the fact that some middle aged white devil had the audacity to say anything negative about saint Sofia. If you read my previous gems, relating to this case , or my many posts on crime and the disparity in sentences dolled out to persons of color, you might want to reconsider your left handed accusations that Im just some racist redneck from the Midwest. But that's not how you roll, is it?

As to your ascertion that my forefathers were of the attitude that folks of african ancestry were less than human, I'm afraid I am going to have to take exception to that remark as well. My forefathers are of Dutch, German, and Irish bloodlines, not a founding father, or slave holder in the bunch. Hell, they never set foot on this soil until a few years before the Oklahoma land rush. So I'm afraid you have erred in your racist rhetoric that all white folks were former slave owners dating back to the founding of this country. That being said I am of European dissent, which to your twisted line of non-thinking makes me as guilty as a 19th century sugar cane plantation owner.

Your contention that being black and being a woman somehow qualifies Salva as some latter day martyr and symbol of "persecution", is the single most idiotic thing to come out of your race baiting mouth. Salva is no more a good person by virtue of her ethnicity and what transpired , than was Rodney King. Were they mistreated? Yes. Does that automatically make them great people? Fuck no. Before you get your Erika Badu headdress all in a bunch , let me clarify a couple of points . Salva had her other children taken from her because she was a shitty mother and a piss poor person. It had nothing to do with color or gender, you dolt. It had everything to do with lacking the basic love and concern for the welfare of the lives she was responsible for. She was dicking around at a liquor store , forging temporary tags, and not, making copies of Alice Walker poems. My point is , once again she was neglecting a life that she was responsible for. The cops were as wrong as Richard Simmons striped shorty shorts, they lost their jobs, and set the city up for a lawsuit. I've got no problem with either of those things. They were probably racist as well, and frankly , the KCMO police department is better off without them, and anyone who thinks like them.

The differences between you and I are so vast and varied that I cant begin to touch on all of them. The biggest difference is that I don't scream racism every time someone of a different ethnicity says something about someone white, especially if they never made an issue of said whiteness. You on the other hand are nothing more than a wanna be Angela Davis who screams racism, sexism , or homophobia every time you open your pie hole. You do a disservice to your people, and you should be ashamed.

It is people like you my Nubian princess who give true humanitarians and real voices for change a bad name. You dole out your blend of race baiting rhetoric seasoned with pseudo victimization , and people who think like you, lap it up like cats to cream. You are a black version of David Duke. Here is the long and short of what comprises you as a writer/activist, and why your shit is so thin it's transparent. You love racist/sexist white men, because without them , you wouldn't have a platform to spread your wacky horse shit. So when you stumble across my blog about Salva you immediately call me out as racist, even though I never made a single derogatory remark about Salvas race. You were so frothing at the mouth over the thought of dressin down whitey , that you clearly didn't bother to read the entire post, or previous posts, or anything else I wrote. All of your websites proclamations of love and empowerment proved in that instant to be nothing more than lip service. You attacked me based on the color of my skin and not the content of my writing, hypocrite.


Here in Midtown Kansas City I am all about equality. I don't consider color, sexual orientation, religion or politics. I don't adhere to your philosophy, that pigmentation of the skin exempts you from criticism, or pigeon holes you to one particular stereotype or another. "Is this going to be a day of bashing us or are we going to get to the points of the situation at hand?"

That is a direct quote from KC PD officer, Kevin (how is your miscarriage my problem) Schnell, when asked by the The Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners, why he resigned from the Military and the Highway Patrol. The actions of this Officer played a role in someone not receiving medical attention, while in his custody. A decision that may well have contributed to the suspects subsequent miscarriage, I might add. So the boards questions pertaining to his military discharge were pertinent and germane to the hearing. How so you ask, well I'll tell you, here's why.



The single most important aspect of a cops personality is their character. When a cop screws up and violates codes of conduct or ignores policies and procedure , it shows a lack of character. Sure cops are only human, and I believe that most cops do their job for the right reasons. But there is a fair number of them who are no better and often worse than the people they arrest. Cops carry guns, they wield power, they make decisions that are often matters of life and death. That is some pretty fucking strong MOJO, and it takes a person with a high degree of character and perspective to handle the power that has been entrusted to them. Take away all of the damning evidence on record pertaining to the Salvo case, erase the video that shows these two ass clowns repeatedly ignore the suspects request for medical attention, forget that they ignored police department policy, ignore the fact that the suspect miscarried her fetus, lets pretend none of that happened.



Now imagine that officer Schnell sits in front of the police board for some other infraction that could cost him his job. And the board asks him about his resignations from the military and highway Patrol, and he arrogantly refuses to answer the question. First of all his response is defensive and evasive. He is hiding something. Secondly, he is arrogant and trying to control the hearing. In giving his response and refusing to answer the questions , he sealed his fate. Stick a fork in him, he is done. And while you have your multi pronged eating utensil handy, poke his fall partner Melody (You just need a tampon) Spencer as well. These two incompetent misanthropes know they don't stand a chance of regaining the jobs they never should have had in the first place. They are simply going out kicking and screaming so they can come back and sue the KCPD down the road.

And lest we forget Mother of the year Sofia (Im heading to the hospital after I forge some new license plates) Salvo. She should be charged with reckless endangerment resulting in the loss of her unborn child. She has at least one protective order filed against her for adult abuse/ stalking and a conviction to go with it. She has had more than a few brushes with child protective services. She was breaking the law and dicking around at a liquor store when she should have taken herself to the hospital. In short Salva didn't give a rats ass about her child. Her lack of any real concern for the baby she was carrying is exemplified in her actions leading up to her arrest.


None of that changes the fact that these two cops were as wrong as Liberace headlining Lollapalooza. If you go over to the Stars piece on today's hearing you will find in the comment section of the article, comments that maintain the cops were just doing their job and Salva was a criminal. What these tools fail to take in to consideration is the innocent victim in all of this. The victim wasn't Sophia Salva, and it sure as hell isn't the two cops. The victim in all of this is the kid who never stood a chance. Before the child ever had a chance to breath air he was dealt a shitty hand from a stacked deck. He had a piss poor mother and the misfortune of running across two morons who didn't do their job, they failed to serve and protect.
