What do Barney, Papa Smurf and Creepy Folk Art Man all have in common?

They can all be found in nondescript neighborhoods of 60's ranch homes off of Crysler road. I have no idea, WTF this thing is made out of, or why anyone would put it in front of their house. I was going to get out and get a closer look, but I didn't want to end up as a lamp shade.

The vividness of these two houses is subdued to some extent in the pictures, especially the purple one.

  1. The blue is bad, but that purple is HORRIBLE! And that's coming from a woman who has absolutely no taste in decorating.

  2. Looks like they were influenced by the Easter Bunny.

This would be one of the few arguements I could have in favor of a HOA.

  4. It does look voodoo-ish, I think it is actually a tree trunk, and who knows where all the extra parts came from.

  6. In a town I used to live in, a gal painted her business the same purple as above. It was in the county and there was no zoning against it. Raised quite a bit of rucus before she repainted it a while later.

  7. I can't stop laughing. The Barney house takes the cake. I'll bet there's a lot of "love" in that house. Are these all in Raytown?

actually they are close to the old blue ridge mall/ walmart . that spooky trinity of eastern kc, raytown and Indep. they look pastel in the photo, compared to actually seeing them.
