I was heading over to Mama's on South West trafficway for some breakfast. Ive been meaning to check them out since the re-opened in the same location that was once Kansas City's biggest freak show, Nichols Diner. The food must be pretty good because the place was packed. I took a pass due to my dislike of large crowds of hipsters and suburban adventurers. However, all was not lost and my trip wasn't for naught. Standing under the awning was the most honest man in this city. I slipped him a dime spot and promised to make him famous. In return he was kind enough to pose for this picture. The easy thing to do is tsk tsk and look down your nose at a guy who has clearly lost sight of what most of us consider leading a good and productive life. On the other hand he had a pretty good sense of humor and offered to pose naked for the ten spot. I passed on that offer, although a wino holding a sign while his beans and frank flapped in the breeze would have been a hoot. So if you happen to be sitting waiting for the light at 39th and Southwest trafficway, and you see my new BFF on the job, float him a buck or three, you'll feel better knowing where your money went. Tell em the miscreant sent ya.
sense of humor is the key to begging success but it wears out quickly so he needs to rotate the signs
ReplyDelete...or rotate the area. There's nothing worse than seeing the same guy working the same corner all the time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he always has the same sign. Still, I'm more likely to give him money than anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go pay 10 just to get that photo.. lol
ReplyDeletethis guy's super...one of the nicest men i've ever met in westport...despite his sign, he never seems to be at the alcohol research...
