The Minneville Horror, or, How I almost became a human lampshade.

Yesterday started out fairly normal. I was working north of the river, have been for the last couple of weeks, so I was all set for another slow boring day. No offense to folks in the north-land, but it is pretty boring north of the river. I really don't even consider north Kansas City part of Kansas City. Sorry but it reminds me of one of the burbs to the east or west. Anyway, I was working along 210 between 435 and 291 when I entered the tiny speck of a town known as Minneville. The entire town consisted of a cross section of a half dozen 3 block long roads, and one long dead end road winding up a hill.

At the end of the road was an old cemetery. As best I could tell, the last person buried there was in the 1930's. The majority of peeps seemed to have been laid to rest there around the late 1800's to very early 1900's.

Undeniably it was a beautiful little spot. I have a soft spot for these old cemeteries, as evidenced by previous blogs about similar graveyards throughout the area.

So max and I wandered around snapped some decent (for me) shots, and headed back to the car. And that was when I noticed IT. I couldn't make out what it was at first.

Then I got closer.

And closer.

Until finally.

Okay I am sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why someone took the time and effort to put this creepy wack O lantern on a pole , at the end of a dead end road, directly across from a cemetery. There is nothing else up there, except woods. I'm also fairly certain that there were several sets of beady eyes peering at me from said woods. Im also sure they were preparing to zombie walk out of the woods, capture me, drag me to some cellar/ torture chamber/ human lampshade factory. I tossed Max in the car and we kicked rocks up outta that bitch.
