Where is MM ?

Okay here we go , the first ever installment of Where is MM. This one is fairly easy, future WMM's will be more obscure, weired, or just plain difficult to identify the location of. There is no prize, no glory, zero accolades, and not a single benefit for answering correctly. You get some cred for knowing shit about the KC metro area, that's it. Oh, and you get to read some anecdote or semi witty crap I will write to accompany the photo. Just put your answer in the comment section , or don't.
I have been fascinated by this statue since I was a little Miscreant. My mother told me that some guy discovered it in some ancient ruins in China. She said the eyes once held diamonds but the guy had to remove them to pay to ship the thing back. It was a long story, and pure fantasy intended to amuse a little boy.
Mom has long since slipped from this mortal coil, but the memory of her , or at least a snapshot from days past still resides with this statue.
This thing is huge. It stands at least 10 feet tall, the eagle has a wing span of 8 foot or better. I don't know the real history of it. If anyone knows, just keep it to yourself. As far as I'm concerned it was discovered in ancient Asian ruins and once had diamond eyes.

  4. Definitely the Ward Parkway eagle. I thought it had been brought back from the Himalayas by Indiana Jones.

The next where is MM will be up tomorrow, it wont be so easy.

JOCO Sob, I drive all over the city on a daily basis so people with overpriced Iphones can use them as GPS locaters, tough job, but some slacker has got to do it.

  8. I remember the "rainbow" house accross from Ward Pkwy. I recall hearing that the owner had a siding company. I always figured it either that or he really liked pissing off his neighbors.

  10. The raindbow house is on the corner of 95th and Wornall, as I recall. So, kinda down the street from the Ward Pkwy Mall, but not really across from it, unless you guys are talking about something totally different.

And the guy was having an argument with his HOA about what color he could make his house. They told him what he was allowed to do, and none of them were the color that he wanted. So instead, he painted the house (or sided it...I don't know for sure, really) every color that he was allowed to use, in a rainbow fashion, i.e. stripes of color up the outside walls of the house.

It's a normal color now. I think he painted it normal back in 2000, or 1999.

Not familiar with the house on wornall. This one was on about 86th and ward parkway, they painted it back about the same time. But it was multi colored , pastel, pink , blue , yellow and green. It was like that when I was 7, so 42 years ago, up until the late 90's.

  12. 2 rainbow houses within blocks of each other? Craziness! I never saw that one, sadly. :(
